A congress of a part of the union sector related to the Government was the stage for President Luis Arce Catacora and union leaders to announce measures in favor of merchants. The first was the creation of a $10 million guarantee fund.
Added to this is a protection law for the sector, which will be dealt with in the coming days in the Legislative Assembly. And also, the construction of 800,000 homes in favor of the union members. In exchange, the head of state asked for unity.
The opening of this congress that will renew the directive was full of pompous speeches.
Juan Carlos García, executive of the Trade Union Confederation of Bolivia in a speech on First, he declared himself a soldier in the process of change and assured that his sector unconditionally supports the government of President Arce.
“We are going to defend brother Lucho from all the abuses they do to him. They seek that he no longer govern the country. The unions are committed to being able to defend their Government”, said the leader.
He explained that thanks to the efforts made by the leadership before the Executive, which he described as the Government of the people, it was possible to consolidate a guarantee fund so that the union sector can access credit in financial entities.
“They approve us 10 million dollars to create the union guarantee fund so that we can have loans. We are happy, comrades”, pointed out the leader.
García said that the only thing missing is for the Ministry of Economy to issue an administrative resolution for this fund to become a reality.
But that was not all. The leader stressed that due to the proximity between the leaders and the Government, a law was negotiated that can protect union activity. He even said that it was the first time that a president had visited them in a congress.
“Now there will be a law that protects us and no one can bother us,” he said without giving further details of the content of this rule.
Continuing in his speech, García said that the Government approved a project to deliver 800 homes for the sector.
In his turn, President Arce ratified the existence of this bill which, according to the country’s highest authority, will be sent to the Legislative Assembly for analysis.
“The law to protect the union family will be sent to the Assembly so that they have a law that protects their work”, promised the President.
Of course, in return he asked for unity in the sector and choose their leaders well.
“Your national government is here to help you in your management, we will continue to support you. And keep unity, above allor”, he asked.
This is the second congress carried out by the union sector related to the Government. It should be remembered that there are two confederations, one led by García and the other by Francisco Figueroa.
The latter, on several occasions accused García of exercising an illegal representation of the sector and of being servile to the Government of the Movement Towards Socialism (MAS).
