The Government will buy spare parts for the repair and maintenance of electric trains

“This contract is a great advance in our Transportation Modernization Plan,” Guerrera said.

The national government will acquire China spare parts for the repair and maintenance of cars on the Miter, Sarmiento and Roca lines, with an estimated investment in $ 82 million, within the framework of Transportation Modernization Plan, as officially reported.

The signing of the contract with the Chinese state company CRRC Sifang, for the acquisition of spare parts and technical assistance for the repair and preventive maintenance of the 709 electric cars available to the Miter, Sarmiento and Roca lines, was in charge of the Minister of Transport, Alexis guerrera and the president of Trenes Argentinos Operations (TAO), Martin Marinucci.

After the agreement, progress will be made in the arrival of new inputs that will make it possible to recover six electric carsthat are not operational on the Sarmiento line, four on the Miter line and six on the Roca line, in order to increase the rolling stock fleet and offer a greater number of services.

In addition to the recovery of these 16 cars that are currently not operational, the agreement will provide the material to carry out the maintenance of 180 cars on the Miter line; 225 cars on the Sarmiento line; and 300 cars of the Roca line as well as incorporating 4 cars as reserves for the Miter and Sarmiento lines.

Minister Guerrera pointed out that “this contract is a breakthrough in our Transportation Modernization Plan, because it will allow us to have more spare parts, something that had been suspended in the previous management “.

“With these pieces we can make maintenance to the fleet of trains that we already have and also expand it, recovering and putting into operation rolling stock that today is stopped and that we need to continue shortening travel times and improving the quality of life of tens of thousands of people who use the trains, “he added.

For its part, Martin Marinucci acknowledged “the effort that has been made from Argentine Trains in its different areas to be able to reach this instance that, for us, what the minister asks of us is to have a better service. Being able to do this signature is very important.”

Finally, the general manager of CRRC Sifang Argentina, Jinqiang Zhao, pointed out that they were “very happy” to be in the country and thanked “the support and confidence in carrying out this contract, both to the Ministry and to Argentine Trains. We convey the tranquility that we are going to do our job well. We have a technical team of specialists in Argentina to work on this project. We want to provide a good service to the Ministry and the Argentine citizenship. “

The contract has an investment of 82 million dollars and the first spare parts will arrive in the country during the first months of 2022. The purchase of this material had been rejected in 2017.
