The constitutional ruling regarding the Ombudsman made known by the Fourth Chamber of the Constitutional Court of La Paz may be used for the appointment of magistrates of the Judicial Branch, the Minister of Justice warned today, Iván Lima, at a press conference. On Thursday, the Fourth Chamber of the Constitutional Court issued a resolution regarding a compliance action presented by the parallel Human Rights Assembly demanding the appointment of an Ombudsman. This court decided to “exhort” to the President of the AssemblyDavid Choquehuanca, to call an ordinary or extraordinary session to appoint an Ombudsman.
The lawyer of that parallel entity, Franklin Gutiérrez, explained that that constitutional ruling does not empower the President, Luis Arce to appoint interimbut rather urges the Assembly to fulfill its duty to appoint authorities.

The president of the Chamber of Senators, Andrónico Rodríguez, announced that the selection of the new Ombudsman will be made after the recess parliamentary that takes effect on Monday and will last until August 1 when the sessions are reinstated.
