The Government sees the arrival of Conviasa as normal; Israel says it transports weapons

The Minister of Public Works, Edgar Montaño, assured that the Venezuelan airline Conviasa “operates normally in Bolivia” with two weekly frequencies, while the Israeli embassy in Buenos Aires, Argentina, denounced that these aircraft, sold by Iran to the government of Nicolás Maduro transport weapons.

Minister Montaño explained that It is not the first time that Conviasa lands in Bolivia, “has two weekly flights to our country. And indeed, having had some inconvenience in Argentina, we with BoA have received some passengers who were bound for Buenos Aires”.

This combination could not be carried out because the manager of the BoA airline, Ronald Casso, explained that the procedure to send a 120-passenger charter to Buenos Aires takes at least 48 hours.

The minister added that “It is about help and agreements that are made between airlines, that one can take passengers for a section to a certain place, and from there another airline can complete the journey, in this case, to the city of Buenos Aires”. He underlined that all of this was done within the scope of normality.

For its part, the General Directorate of Civil Aviation (DGAC) clarified, however, that within the framework of bilateral agreements between states in the region and in accordance with the ICAO standard and the Bolivian Aeronautical Regulations (RAB), the entry of a non-scheduled flight of the Conviasa air operator with the A340-600 aircraft, registration YV 3535 on the Caracas-Viru Viru-Caracas route, on June 15, whose objective was passenger transport.

The DGAC confirmed that the aforementioned aircraft returned to the Venezuelan capital at 2:20 yesterday; and he expressed through that statement his commitment to the surveillance of the operational safety of aeronautical activity in Bolivia.

Embassy

The State of Israel expressed this Thursday its “concern” about the plane with Venezuelan and Iranian crew that was retained in Ezeiza, two weeks ago and warned about the airlines that operate in Latin America and are dedicated to the trafficking of weapons and the transfer of people, reported the Argentine newspaper Clarín.

“Given the facts of public knowledge, the Embassy of Israel expresses concern in this regard,” the statement said.

In the text they warn that the aircraft, “which until recently it was used by the Iranian company Mahan Air, it landed in Argentina taking on board a group of Iranian officials, including a senior executive of the Persian airline Qeshm Fars Air.”

And it adds: “Israel is particularly concerned about the activity of the Iranian airlines Mahan Air and Qeshm Fars Air in Latin America, companies that are dedicated to arms trafficking and the transfer of people and equipment that operate for the Quds Force, which are sanctioned by the United States for being involved in terrorist activities.

The facts account for Iran’s sustained attempts to consolidate the region as a base to commit terrorist acts.” Federal judge Federico Villena ordered yesterday that an eye inspection be carried out on the plane and ordered the removal of the black box, Infobae learned from judicial sources.
