From this Wednesday, October 26, registrations are enabled for a new edition of the program I study and work. Through this route, students between the ages of 16 and 20 are offered the possibility of having their first formal work experience in State institutions.
This year there are 611 scholarship places available that are distributed in 50 locations throughout the countryit was reported to The Observer from the Ministry of Labor and Social Security (MTSS).
The list is made up of 37 institutions, although this list is dynamic because there are institutions that join at the last minute, it was explained.
They are: Customs, Ancap, National Development Agency, National Ports Administration, Antel, Central Bank, Social Welfare Bank, Republic Bank, Ceibal, General Accounting Office of the Nation, Bank Retirement and Pension Fund, Uruguayan Post Office, General Directorate Tax, National Institute of Viticulture, National Institute of Cooperativism, Institute of Colonization, National Institute of Statistics and Institute of Employment and Vocational Training.
In addition, add the municipalities of Canelones, Flores, Florida, Montevideo, and the departmental boards of Lavalleja and Paysandú.
Also the Ministries of Economy and Finance, Education and Culture, Livestock, Agriculture and Fisheries, Social Development, Public Health and Housing; and the Planning and Budget Office, OSE, Parliament’s Administrative Commission, Communication Service Regulatory Unit, UTE, Technological University and Chamber of Senators.
Registration will be open until next Wednesday, November 2 through the site www.inscripcion.com.uy. The lottery for places will be held on November 7 and the results will be published on the MTSS website.
Requirements and main bases
At the time of enrollment You must be between 16 and 20 years old and be studying in a formal educational center (school, high school, CETP-UTU, IPA, Teaching, University and tertiary institutes) or non-formal (Cecap, Inefop, etc., with a minimum duration of 240 hours).
Another requirement is not to be currently working and not have had formal work experience for more than 90 continuous days or, in case of discontinuous work, it may not be more than 90 days in a period of two years (this requirement refers to dependent, independent, holder, business partner with activity or other figures that the social security agencies contemplate).
The workload for those who are selected will be 20 or 30 hours per week. The work period will have a maximum duration of 12 months. In no circumstance will it exceed 12 months and may not be less than 9 months.
The monthly remuneration will be 4 Benefit and Contribution Bases (BPC), which is equivalent to $20,656. Pregnant women or women with dependent children under 4 years of age will receive a monthly salary of 6 BPC for 30 hours per week, equivalent to $30,984. In case of working 20 hours per week, the remuneration will be proportional to this hourly load.
The program is the one who refers those selected to the company where they will work. The participants will not acquire the status of public officials nor will they have the right to permanence. More details on how the program works can be found in this note.
