It is constituted in the fourth process initiated by the Government against the ex-president.
In the Office of the Comptroller General of the State it was found that Guevara Oropeza filed his affidavit on November 29 of this year as an official of that State portfolio and according to previous publications, she served as director of Sepret. However, at a press conference this Wednesday, The lawyer stated that the complaint was filed on November 23In other words, when she was still a state official; although he did so as a representative of an organization called, “Pro Human Rights.”
The defense attorney for the ex-president, Luis Guillén, said that they were not notified with any formal process and considered that the fact that they have filed a complaint as if it were private, is due to the criticism that the Government has already received for promoting lawsuits against its client.
“What happens is that there was great criticism for the processes that began against the former president, precisely the Committee Against Torture ruled. Then, is a way to cover this situation“This kind of process is promoted, which still has no head or tail, but it is intended to justify the irregularities against the ex-president,” said the defense attorney.
Áñez already has three processes installed by the Government: the first is the case called coup d’état I, the crimes of which are terrorism, sedition and conspiracy; the second, coup d’état II, for the crimes of resolutions contrary to the Constitution and breach of duties; the third is the process for irregular appointments, referring to the appointment of the head of the Bolivian Food Company (EBA) in 2020. The one recently filed is the fourth trial.
Along with Guevara Oropeza, is one of the alleged victims of torture of the Áñez government, Ayben Huaranca, who in 2019 was known as “the nurse” and appeared in different videos dressed as a doctor, police and military.
Both are listed on the “Pro Human Rights” website. and they published a trip to Geneva where they had presented the same complaint before the 72nd Session of the United Nations Committee Against Torture.
The accusation also includes former Minister Arturo Murillo.
A video of the lawyer claims to be in Geneva to present the complaint and is grateful for the support she received to reach Europe and present her case. The complaint is for an alleged torture of 54 people that was committed during the Áñez government.
