The Secretary of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries, Juan José Bahillo, met with the Governor of Entre Ríos, Gustavo Bordet, to analyze the progress of the disbursement of a US$38 million loan from the Andean Development Cooperation (CAF) that was will be used to improve rural roads in the departments of Paraná, Nogoyá and Diamante.
The long-term loan, approved by the credit agency last December, will go to the Roads Program for Productive Development, which seeks to boost the provincial economy by improving road connectivity.
Specifically, the initiative contemplates the intervention of 83.7 km of rural roads to provide greater trafficability and safety, thus generating favorable conditions to increase productivity in the area of influence, where training and technical assistance activities will also be carried out to productive establishments.
It is estimated that the measure will benefit about 63,900 people, including at least 1,120 producers who carry out activities in the beekeeping, cattle and sheep, poultry and pig farming sectors in the departments of Paraná, Nogoyá and Diamante, according to the project presented to CAF.
Among other benefits, the improvement of the passability of rural roads will reduce costs and travel times for producers.
Once CAF’s approval and the sovereign guarantee of the National Government have been received, Entre Ríos will proceed, through its Ministry of Production, with the call for tenders for workswhich includes the paving of road connections in the dairy area and poultry farms.
In the meeting, held at the Ministry of Economy, Bahillo and Bordet also analyzed the progress of other productive investments in which both jurisdictions cooperate.
Bahillo highlighted “the shared vision between the Nation and the Province to shore up the most densely populated productive node of Entre Ríos with road works and productive infrastructure, with a strong impact on activities as important as dairy and poultry farming.”
For his part, the provincial president appreciated the progress of these works in Entre Ríos.
“We listened to the needs of the producers and put together the project that has already been approved by CAF, and that we are now in the process of opening the tender”highlighted the governor, according to official statements from the Nation and Entre Ríos.
The Entre Ríos president explained that the program covers “important routes, such as the connection between Viale and Maciá, which has a historical claim to have a claim; paving between Villa Libertador San Martín and Gobernador Racedo, a high-impact area for these activities; and the paving of the section that joins the national route Nº 12 with the access to Aldea San Rafael, among others”.
He also recalled that Bahillo, as Minister of Production in Entre Ríos, worked on the formulation of the project.
Also present at the meeting were the director of the National Institute of Statistics and Censuses (Indec), Marco Lavagna, and the undersecretary of International Relations for Development, Leandro Gorgal.
Lavagna emphasized the “strategic activities of the province of Entre Ríos”and indicated that the National State “works with a federal vision of providing the provinces with the necessary tools to promote their development and improve the quality of life of their people.”
