The governor of Beni, Alejandro Unzueta, affirmed that, when he took office as the department’s highest authority, the institution was bankrupt and shrouded in corruption. He filed more than 200 complaints of corruption from the previous administration and to date has not received a response from the Prosecutor’s Office.
“The Government did not exist, the institution was broken, even with an impressive fiscal insolvency. Eight months of wages were owed, in a chaotic financial state. Before they took possession of us, there were already blockades at the door of all the sectors. It was due (salaries) to the entire medical sector that worked in the pandemic, the first few months were really quite hard, ”said Unzueta in an interview with the program ‘Influyentes’ of EL DEBER Radio.
He added that a reformulation and restructuring of the personnel had to be implemented in order to invest in works. 52% of officials who were immovable people were respected for disability and maternity, and for the rest a reduction policy was applied.
“We made a tremendous reformulation, we cut human resources, we dropped to 1,100 employees and today we have 646 so that the budget ceilings reach us in the most important items and we begin to build works”, he maintained.

According to Unzueta, the bankruptcy of the institution was due to the mismanagement of the past management, managed by the Movement Towards Socialism (MAS). He indicated that presented more than 200 cases of corruption. However, the complaints have not had any results.
“The response of the Prosecutor’s Office is complete silence.. We are already going to complete a year of management and there is not a single prisoner for the corruption that they left us, ”he added.
