The Ministry of Transport made official this Friday the rates of the public transport which will be in force as of January 1, 2023, after an increase of 40% was authorized for the services of the Metropolitan Area of Buenos Aires (AMBA).
In this way, the rates of services of buses and short and long distance trains. Although the increase for the public transport was going to be in force from this month, this was postponed by decision of the Government.
It should be remembered that last August the public transport suffered a 40% increase after three yearssince prior to that, the last increase originated in the year 2019.
From the Ministry they explained that “the new tariff charts will be submitted to an instance of citizen participation, where opinions and proposals can be expressed.” To do this, citizens must fill out a form through the Government’s website.
The new rates were formalized through the Official Gazette that was published this Friday; However, the decision had been announced months ago by the former Minister of Transportation, Alexis Guerrera.
The Government clarified that, for the minimum journey ticket (3 kilometers) the increase will be 39%. On the other hand, the social rate of the rises card will remain in force, which is aimed at retirees, pensioners, domestic workers, Malvinas veterans and beneficiaries of social benefits.
The measure details that for the increases, “increases in the prices of inputs and services, including diesel, insurance, price of rolling stock and spare parts” were taken into accountwhich have not been recognized in the rates, so the increases are necessary to maintain the economic-financial equation that allows their sustainability”.
How was each rate
For the case of service For buses the rates are as follows:
- Sections of up to 3 km $35
- Sections from 3 to 6 km $39
- Sections from 6 to 12 km $42
- Sections from 12 to 27 km $45
- Sections longer than 27 km $48
For its part, for the Roca, Belgrano Norte, Urquiza and Belgrano Sur line trains, the minimum fare will be $17 and the maximum $22. On the Miter, Sarmiento, San Martín and Tren de la Costa lines, the minimum ticket will cost $22 and the maximum $35.
