The Government confirmed that there are delays in the new segmentation of gas and electricity rates

This Thursday, at a press conference, Gabriela Cerruti confirmed that the Government will not increase gas and electricity rates until the new segmentation is known, for which 10% of users will pay the full rate.

The presidential spokeswoman explained that the executive power “is working on the implementation” and that all the details about the new procedure that will have to be carried out to access the subsidies of the Government.

In this sense, as Cerruti confirmed, until the new segmentation is defined, the Government will not make changes to the rates: “The rates will continue as they are now,” said the spokeswoman.

Regarding the procedure to apply for subsidies, he described that it will be “a very simple procedure”, since every time this type of procedure was called for virtually, the response was positive.

Rates have already risen 20% this year.

“We have the experience of recent years that every time a registration was called, everything happened with the greatest naturalness and efficiency,” said the official, who also explained that up to three months will pass between the announcement and implementation.

“There will be three months between the announcement and the implementation and those who pay the rate without subsidies, said increase will be prorated during the last quarters of the year.”

Those who pay more will see an increase of up to 200%

In addition, he mentioned that “If the segmentation form is not completed, the user of electricity and gas services will run the risk of having the subsidy removed”for which he invited all citizens to carry out the procedure in a timely manner once it is enabled.

The new segmentation will be in three levels

The executive power Until now, it has been announced that the new tariff segmentation will cover three levels: the first will be the social one, that is, it will be the population that will continue with the subsidies and will have an average increase of 6%.

There will be several criteria to define the new segmentation.

The second will be for the average user, who will have a 20% increase in rates; while 10% of users (the wealthiest) will pay the full rate. These users must have net monthly income greater than a value equivalent to 3.5 Total Basic Baskets (CBT).
