Santo Domingo.-After an extensive day of the expanded Council of Ministers, held yesterday at the National Palace to articulate and align the Government projects that will be executed in 2026, it will be in the coming days when the complete list of priorities will be announced.
These will be aligned with the ten prioritized goals, where the Government’s commitment to management focused on results and well-being for the people was reaffirmed.
This was reported by the Director of Strategy and Communication of the Presidency, Félix Reyna, who explained that “it was an extended meeting in which several tables were discussing and selecting the most important priorities of the Government for the remainder of this administration.”
For his part, the Vice Minister of the Presidency, Luis Madera, announced that the Government selected, among more than 650 programs and budget products of the 2026 Annual Operational Plan, some 40 to 50 strategic initiatives that will be prioritized for their direct impact on the 10 national goals defined by the administration at the end of 2024.
The official explained that this process seeks to concentrate resources, political monitoring and technical monitoring on those actions with the greatest capacity for social and economic transformation.
“What it is about is taking the more than 600 programs that were already planned and selecting those that most directly impact the Government’s priority goals, to give them continuous follow-up, permanent monitoring and accountability in the Councils of Ministers,” he said.
Among the central axes they cited health, security, transportation and social development.
In terms of health, the main priority will be to continue strengthening the first level of care.
Madera highlighted that more than 700 primary care centers have already been intervened and that the goal is to continue investing so that health “starts in the community and not in emergencies.”
Regarding citizen security, the approach will be comprehensive, with territorial interventions in neighborhoods of Greater Santo Domingo and Santiago.
