The Dominican Government advances in the formation of the Advisory Council for the Promotion and Marketing of the Tourisma body created to offer advice and propose tourism investment policies abroad.
On December 2, the president Luis Abinader appointed the new members of this entity that was established last year.
Luis Rafael López Ferreira will represent the Executive Branch in the Council and, through the Decree 675-25representatives of the country’s main airports were also appointed:
- Paola Rainieri Kuretat the Punta Cana Airport.
- Nasim Antonio Yapor Albaat the Cibao International Airport.
- Luis Emilio Rodríguez Amiamaat La Romana International Airport.
- Mónika Giovanna Infante Henríquezat the concessioned airports.
All members of the Advisory Council They have the right to speak and vote at meetings, and will perform their duties honorably.
Composition of the organism
According to him Decree 163-24the Advisory Council will be composed of thirteen members and will be headed by the tourism minister.
Also part of the body are the technical vice-minister, the vice-minister of Promotion and Development, the director of Marketing, the director of the International Promotion Offices and the legal director of the Ministry of Tourismwho will also assume the secretariat of the Council.
The document establishes that a ministry advisor will be appointed by the president of the Council, and that there will be a representative of the Executive Branch linked to the tourism sector, appointed by decree.
The body is completed with the president of the Hotel and Tourism Association of the Dominican Republic (Asonahores) and the representatives of the airports already mentioned.
What will the Council do?
The Council, created by decret 163-24 and modified by decree 658-25, has a permanent character and is attached to the Ministry of Tourism.
His main function is to advise on the formulation of policies and strategic decisions linked to investment in promoting the country as a tourist destination.
The Council’s decisions form part of the national strategy for Country Brand and its content can be classified as classified information when the national interest is at stake.
The regular meetings They will be held at least four times a year, and extraordinary sessions may also be called when necessary.
