The spokesperson for the Presidency, Gabriela Cerruti, gave her usual conference every Thursday before the media accredited in Casa Rosada and referred to the debt that the Government renegotiates with the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
In this sense, he pointed out that President Alberto Fernández will again seek “international support” in Europe to “reach the best agreement with the IMF“ and, thus, pay the loan with the organism that “(former president) Mauricio Macri contracted.”
Likewise, he pointed out that it is not “just any debt” but that It is “the largest in the history of Argentina and it is also the largest loan in the IMF“. In addition, he recalled that Macri did it “without going through Parliament.”
On the other hand, he indicated that the debt “compromises the house, the food, the day-to-day life of Argentines for several years and for many generations.” For this reason and despite the fact that there are opposition politicians “who are in a hurry” for the negotiation, the Government is not willing to close at any cost and “does not have deadlines, but rather has the conviction of reaching the best agreement.”
At the same time, he argued that it is necessary for “the Fund to understand that if it loaned 180% more than what it was supposed to lend to Argentina and did so based on a political decision that had to do with agreements it had with Macri, that is not the responsibility of this Government or the Argentines ”.
Repercussions of the act in tribute to Nestor Kirchner
