The Government announces aid of up to $20,000 per hectare for small producers

Help producers to increase the area planted next year.

The Minister of Economy, Sergio Massa, and the Secretary of Agriculture, Juan Bahillo, will announce the granting of non-refundable contributions for amounts ranging from $6,000 to $20,000 per hectare to small soybean and corn producers, to finance the purchase of fertilizers and seeds.

The event will take place from 1 pm in the Buenos Aires town of General Las Heras.

Producers of up to 400 hectares of soybeans will receive $6,000 per hectare, while small corn producers -of up to 100 ha- will receive aid of $20,000 per hectare.

The initiative, which will take effect on November 1, takes place within the framework of the expansion of the strengthening program for small and medium producers

These approximate amounts arise from calculating 40% of what producers invest per hectare in fertilizers and seeds, which will be specifically state aid.

The initiative pursues the objective of helping producers to increase the area sown next year.

Thus, a soybean producer of 400 hectares would receive a total amount of approximately $2.4 million and a corn producer of 100 hectares would reach $2 million.

The measure was communicated on Monday by Bahillo to the authorities of the four entities that make up the Liaison Table: Argentine Rural Society, Argentine Rural Confederations, Coninagro, Agrarian Federation, at a meeting held at the headquarters of the Agriculture portfolio.

The initiative, which will take effect on November 1, is part of the expansion of the strengthening program for small and medium-sized producers announced weeks ago by Massa, which includes items for a total of around $40,000 million.

Those SME producers who were not registered in the Export Increase Program (PIE) known as “soy dollar” may participate.” and, in the specific case of oilseed, those who do not have more than 15% of retained stock.
