Despite the fact that summer is about to end, the country is going through some of the hottest weeks for the season, which has affected the development of classes in schools, so the Government made some recommendations in this regard.
The Minister of Education, Jaime Perczyk, assured on behalf of the Executive that a suspension of classes due to the heat wave is ruled out, since the priority of the Government is that this year 190 days of classes are guaranteed.
In this sense, the official explained that the Government “It is progressively equipping schools” to deal with this situation and stressed that “everything is not resolved in one day.”
“There are few schools that have had to suspend. You have to go in the rain, in the cold. You have to go with heat, you have to ventilate, have classes in the patio, but you have to go to school,” the minister told Radio La Red.
And I add: “We have bought fans, air conditioning equipment, we have made sheds to have covered patios. If we want more school days we have to invest in more equipment, but there is also a time when the weather is like that, nobody wants it”.
In that framework, the Executive recommended that classes preferably be taken in ventilated spaces, or that alternatives be sought so as not to suspend classes, since weather conditions cannot be a determining factor for them.
A week after the start of classes at the national level, in several provinces they have been suspended due to the intense heat, as is the case of some schools in the province of Buenos Aires, where several towns even re-implemented virtual classes so as not to affect the school calendar or the students.
How long will the heat wave continue?
According to the projections of the SMN (National Meteorological Service) the heat will persist during the next days, so the agency maintains yellow, orange and red alerts in different areas of the country.
In this way, the city of Buenos Aires, La Plata and other municipalities in the Buenos Aires suburbs continue today under red alert, while orange and yellow alerts apply in the center of the country and the coast. In some locations, maximum temperatures of up to 37°C are expected.
