After the Central Bank (BCRA) announced a greater control of imports to take care of reserves, businessmen have criticized the measure of the Governmentthere has even been talk of “there is a trap on imports”.
In this regard, this morning, Gabriela Cerruti at a press conference stated: “There is no trap for imports” and clarified that the measure of the Government does not mean that there is “a restriction on imports”, but that the executive power seeks to prioritize companies that have access to financing.
“The measure prioritizes companies that have access to financing for imports. All companies can import. What is prioritized is the look, the dollars that go to productive investments. SMEs don’t have any restrictions either, only benefits,” said the representative of the Government.
Likewise, the spokeswoman assured that the BCRA measure is “temporary” and that there are at least 20,000 companies that will benefit from the new regulation, especially SMEs.
Additionally, the measure prioritizes “those issues that must be resolved urgently at the moment”, so, for example, no modifications or restrictions were generated for the entry of fuel and medicines.
In addition, the spokeswoman clarified that the regulation does not establish a restriction on imports as such, but rather companies must do so without financing from the Central Bank, that is, with their own dollars.
This in order to use the reserves on issues that are a priority, such as importing fuel for the winter, according to Cerruti.
