The General is back

Corinthians, from the first division of Brazilian soccer, announced the return of defender Fabián Balbuena, who was at the Russian club Dinamo Moscow.

“He came back. Balbuena is from ‘Timao’. Welcome Balbuena, “wrote the Sao Paulo team on social networks, without giving details of the negotiation that took place for FIFA’s authorization so that players from Russian and Ukrainian clubs, due to the war, can be transferred more easily. .

According to local media, Balbuena, 30, returns after four years with a contract that links him to Corinthians until June 2023.

The arrival was also due to the need of the Portuguese coach, Vítor Pereira, to have a player in the position, after the recent departure of Joao Víctor to Benfica in Lisbon.

In addition to Balbuena, Corinthians, classified in the quarterfinals of the Copa Libertadores after eliminating Boca Juniors, this month re-enlisted Uruguayan defender Bruno Méndez, who was on loan to Internacional de Porto Alegre.

Between 2016 and 2018, Balbuena played 136 games with Corinthians, scoring eleven goals and winning the League (2017) and the Paulista Championship (2018) titles.

In the last season in the Russian League, the Paraguayan defender played 31 games, all as a starter, and scored three goals.
