It was reopened on Maripérez Initial Education Center (CEI), in the La Candelaria parishby the Mayor’s Office of Caracas, to raise the number of schools fully recovered to 42 in 2025.
“We are advancing in the transformation of educational institutions in Caracas and we are going for 100%,” explained the mayor of the Bolivarian Libertador Municipality, Carmen Melendez, on their social networks.
This center, located in a residential complex south of Vollmer Avenue, serves 160 students, 85 girls and 75 boys, who have eight rehabilitated classrooms, as well as three administrative offices, a library, auditorium, sports field, playground, six bathrooms, kitchen and dining room.
In addition, the façade, warehouse and common areas were rehabilitated, among other spaces, as well as the waterproofing of the facility, electrical connection and the replacement of drains, locks, doors and everything necessary to offer the best education to the new generations of Caracas residents.
As part of Operation Caracas Smile, the capital’s mayor offered statements to Venezuelan Television (VTV) about the work carried out in the Candelaria parish, as part of the policies emanating from the Bolivarian Government of the president Nicolás Maduro Moros.
“Here we are once again, with the delivery of recovered schools, and 100% recovered, as a package, with this CEI of the La Candelaria parish, which this year, in this parish we have delivered three recovered schools.”
He confirmed that the work is advancing in the transformation of educational institutions in Caracas together with the Communal Power, the parents and representatives of the educational community, and with the support of the mayor’s office and the Brigades of Solutions team, who made this work possible.
“We could see it when visiting all the classrooms, how happy the children were, dancing, working, painting, learning. This is where our future of the country is forged, and the children need the best education, the best training and with this staff of teachers, teachers, cooks, that I have seen today, of education workers, we can see that this school works 100%.”
Meléndez reported that the Caracas Sonríe operation will serve parishioners from Plaza Carabobo, where they will be able to access all the services offered by the Caravan of Solutions.
