The Vice Minister of Consular and Immigration Affairs in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs from Dominican Republic, Jatzel Romanreported that they have not identified Dominican nationals among the victims of the tragedy involving a trailer in Texas.
However, the official explained that two weeks ago they found four Dominicans alive in a van that they detained in Chiapas, Mexico.
«We report that so far no person of Dominican nationality has been identified among the 53 tragically deceased in a van found in the State of Texas. 2 weeks ago there were 4 found in a detained van in Chiapas, Mexico, all alive«, tweeted Roman.
According to the official, the Dominican Foreign Ministry has established a channel of communication with the Texas authorities. And in a period of 48 hours we could have the identification of all the victims.
Among the migrants who died in the trailer, 22 Mexicans, 7 Guatemalans and 2 Hondurans have already been identified.
The finding was announced on the night of Monday, June 27. At first, 46 migrants were reported dead in the back of a tractor-trailer in Texas. According to San Antonio Mayor Ron Nirenberg, the vehicle had crossed the border between Mexico and the United States.
