This Thursday, September 15, the Minister of Foreign Affairs Erika Mouynes presented to the National Assembly four (4) important legislative initiatives that include inter-institutional work to apply regulations that directly benefit Panamanians due to their economic, commercial, tourism and health repercussions.
In her speech before the plenary session of the National Assembly of Deputies, the head of national diplomacy presented the agreement for the establishment of the International Vaccine Institute, emphasizing that it will contribute to facing the challenges of the high costs of production and quality of vaccines, because the association with different actors will allow us to effectively address these challenges.
“Panama’s participation, as a member state of this Institute, will allow it to stay up-to-date on scientific studies related to the development and production of new vaccines against diseases such as dengue, cholera, typhoid fever and other diseases,” he stressed. Foreign Minister Erika Mouynes.
In addition, he shared the benefits of the agreement between the governments of Panama and Ecuador on air services, highlighting that airlines will be able to operate air services from points prior to the country of origin; points in the country of origin; intermediate points; points in the country of destination and points beyond and vice versa. This Agreement contributes to strengthening the Panamanian Logistics Hub.
Referring to the agreements with the Republic of Türkiye, he mentioned that of cooperation in the field of tourism, which will contribute to the strategies promoted by the National Government for the generation of employment, through the tourism industry, the fundamental axis of any service economy such as ours.
“With this Agreement, the foundations will be laid for the creation of new tourist projects and the diversification of the tourist offer, through the promotion of the countries as a tourist destination. For the Panamanian case, it will allow us to have access to a population estimated at 85 million people according to the last population census,” the chancellor indicated before the plenary session of the Legislative Body.
He also presented the agreement with Türkiye on trade and economic cooperation, in order to promote the exchange of business delegations and representatives of business communities. With this, our companies will be able to access the Turkish market in segments of agriculture, livestock development and food security; energy and mineral resources; fishing, health, manufacturing industries, promotion of small and medium enterprises; construction and consulting services; tourism, services in science and technology, including logistics and finance; maritime shipbuilding and air transport.
