The Chancellery appointed the ambassadors who will replace Manuel Rodríguez Cuadros and Harold Forsyth as representatives of Peru before the United Nations (UN) and the Organization of American States (OAS).
“As part of the revitalization of foreign policy, Ambassador Luis Enrique Chávez Basagoitia, current Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs, has been appointed as Permanent Representative of Peru to the United Nations”They reported this Thursday.

On the other hand, Ambassador Manuel Talavera Espinar, former Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs and current Ambassador to Mexico, will assume the Permanent Representation of Peru before the Organization of American States (OAS).
The Executive confirmed these appointments after Manuel Rodríguez Cuadros confirmed that on August 7 he submitted his resignation from the position of permanent representative of Peru to the United Nations.
In parallel, Harold Forsyth also submitted his resignation to Pedro Castillo on the same day as Peru’s representative to the OAS.
“I have discrepancies with some recent decisions, especially considering the holding of the next OAS General Assembly in Lima, a commitment that we Peruvians obtained by acclamation in November 2021″explained the ambassador.
