Although the femicides They are the most common face of the domestic violence In the Dominican Republic, in recent months a less studied but growing phenomenon has become visible. This is when the person identified as responsible for the death of their partner or ex-partner is a woman.
Between recent arrests, hearings and final sentences, the files in which they are documented deaths of men at the hands of women evidence recurring patterns such as domestic arguments, tense relationships, jealousy, the use of bladed weapons or, in more extreme cases, gasoline attacks.
The most recent case occurred on November 13 in SosuaPuerto Plata, where a woman was arrested after giving a lunge in the chest to his ex-partner, Jonathan Martínez, 34, who died instantly.
A few days before, the November 8in the Villa Cerro de Higüey sector, another female identified as Yordania Rijo Lagueaccused of being responsible for the death of her partner, Bryand Montero Cedano. Severe sentences for murderers

Although these cases represent a very small proportion compared to the universe of couple violence —where the majority of victims are women— the proximity in time of these events, added to the severity of some sentences, has sparked debate about the dynamics of violence within emotional relationships, especially when the events occur in contexts of accumulated tension or with previous episodes of mutual aggressiveness.
