The Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Tourism selected the first seven new air routes that will improve the connectivity of the country’s tourist areas and that will have economic incentives and promotion by the Government.

The chosen routes will allow new direct connections between tourist regions such as the Eastern Plains with the Coffee Region, or the Pacific with the beaches of Córdoba or with La Guajiraamong others.
The Minister of Commerce, Industry and Tourism, María Ximena Lombana, highlighted the results of this call and pointed out that “Places with great tourism potential and high historical and ecological value, such as Tolú and La Macarena, will finally have direct routes from Bogotá and Medellín, respectively. This generates a great benefit for tourism and the development of the regions”.
The seven new routes must be fully operational no later than June 30, according to the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Tourism.

The companies chosen in this process are: Avianca with the route, Bucaramanga – Cali, Cali – Riohacha; satin with the route Bogotá – Tolú and Medellín – La Macarena; Easyfly with Barranquilla – Valledupar and Pereira – Villavicencio and live air with Cali-Monteria.
The Vice Ministry of Tourism, Ricardo Galindo Bueno, pointed out that next April the regional tables will be installed in which local governments, hotels, travel agencies, and tourism service providers will participate in the different regions of the country, in order to achieve the integration of all agents of each of the departments, and ensure the coordination of tourism actors in order to offer visitors high quality products.
The call for these new air routes was opened by the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Tourism last February in order to select 10 routes throughout the country that allow progress in the safe economic reactivation of the tourism sector.
To complete those that are still missing and that were contemplated in the initial call launched by the Ministry, Before March 31, the Vice Ministry of Tourism will open a new process to select the three remaining routes.

With these ten new routes, the National Government seeks that more than 30,000 new tourists connect with the different areas of the country in 2022 and this industry continues to be a great driver of the regional and national economy.
