With the arrival in Venezuela this Wednesday of the first flight of the Colombian airline Satena, from Bogotá, Colombia, the formal opening of the commercial air relationship between the two countries materializes.
Upon arrival at the Maiquetía International Airport, the Colombian plane was received by the Minister of Transportation Ramon Celestino Velasquez Araguayanwho released this information through his account on the social network Twitter.
Colombian authorities accompanied the activity, including the Colombian ambassador to Venezuela, Armando Benedetti.
“Today we received the first flight from the Colombian airline SATENA, we predict a successful reactivation of operations between the sister peoples of Colombia and Venezuela. Always betting on peace and cultural exchange”, published Velásquez Araguayán along with photographs of the reception of this first flight.
In addition, the National Institute of Civil Aeronautics (INAC) published on its Twitter social network account a video showing the landing of Satena’s aircraft on Venezuelan soil.
Making history
For his part, the Colombian ambassador to Venezuela, Armando Benedetti, celebrated the arrival of this first flight and highlighted the strengthening of relations between the two countries.
“At last! Making history, the first international flight of @AerolineaSatena has just landed in Caracas, from Bogotá. Relations between two sister countries continue to be strengthened with open borders and skies,” he posted on his Twitter account.
“With the Venezuelan authorities we will continue working hand in hand to establish frequencies and air routes that allow us to expand air connectivity between Colombia and Venezuela,” the ambassador added in another message.
Hours earlier this Wednesday, the INAC president, Juan Texeira, had reported on the takeoff of this first flight of the Satena airline.
In this regard, Texeira stressed that with this flight the formal opening of the commercial relationship between Venezuela and Colombia.
“We are ready to receive them in the Homeland of Bolívar and Chávez,” he said.
This Monday, the Minister of Transport, Ramón Velásquez Araguayán, announced the reactivation of air-commercial transport operations between Venezuela and Colombia, as part of the actions to fully resume economic relations between both nations.
As will be recalled, last September President Nicolás Maduro reported on the resumption of the Caracas-Bogotá and Valencia-Bogotá air routes.
