The facility, located in the parish of Tumbaco, about 14 kilometers from this capital,
is dedicated to the industrial production of oils, ointments, shampoos and soaps.
Members of the AYA association, the Ministry of Production, Foreign Trade, Investments and Fisheries, the National Institute of Popular and Solidarity Economy, and the company ProCosméticos participated in the opening ceremony. “Our objective is completely sustainable in the short term, but we have already innovated in every step of the execution of this project,” said company executives.
For her part, the Deputy Minister of Production and Industries, Carla Muirraguila, congratulated the initiative and added that there is still much to be done in taking advantage of the properties of cannabis, especially in the production of natural products, as well as to demystify a little the uses with which the plant is associated.
On her side, the executive director of Procosméticos Ecuador, María Fernanda León, highlighted the work carried out for the execution of the project, focused on the cosmetic area and based on the potential of elements used by the ancestors.
AYA’s target group comprises mainly women between the ages of 30 and 65 who are looking for a healthy lifestyle and to whom the importance of nature is transmitted to them, through the lines of commercialized products (therapeutic, dermatological, veterinary, shampoo, conditioner and micellar waters).
Since June 21, 2020, with the reforms to the Comprehensive Organic Criminal Code (COIP), non-psychoactive cannabis or hemp ceased to be a substance subject to control in Ecuador.
