The Feast of Are Miguelito Cuni In Memoriambegan this Tuesday at the Cultural Center of Plaza, in Havana, to honor this cuban musician for his extensive career in one of the most important genres of the national pentagram.
The event will last until March 2 and will include the participation of various groups such as the Quinteto Típico Oriental, the Santiago Septet and the Bamboleo orchestra, as well as the traditional dance company JJ, under the direction of maestro Johannes García, according to a note published by the Prensa Latina (PL) agency.

Add the text that on this occasion the appointment will be dedicated to the Cuban composer Andrés Echevarría, better known as “El Niño Rivera”. Tribute will also be paid to prominent artists such as Ignacio Piñeiro, Carlos Embale, Jesús Ángel Chappotín Coto, Eugenio Rodríguez and Lázaro Oscar Valdés Espinosa.
As part of the festival, on March 1, an exhibition of musical instruments will be inaugurated at the venue of the event, according to the organizers.
The organizers stressed that with the program they seek to promote the study and investigation of the interpreters and composers of the son through audiovisuals, literature and journalism, and contribute to the preservation of Cuban musical roots.
Born in Pinar del Río, Cuní is considered one of the great voices of the Cuban son. He stood out due to his presence in ensembles such as Chapottín and Estrellas de él.
