The 26th edition of Troubadour Festival Longina Sings to Corona It began this Thursday in the city of Santa Clara, in the province of Villa Clara, and will be dedicated to the Argentine María Elena Walsh, according to official media on the Island.
The event, which will run until April 10, will honor this singer-songwriter and playwright, born in Ramos Mejía, Argentina (1930-2011), who renewed the way of writing poetry for children and became known mainly for his children’s books and songs, points out a report of the Prensa Latina (PL) agency.

The media reports that the musical event will begin with a concert by Yaima Orozco, titled Amazon, dedicated to Cuban women and which is part of her album My freedom, the same one that won the award for Best New Album Cuban Trovaat the Cubadisco International Fair 2020-2021.
Saint Clare It will be the main venue for the event, which will also take place in the municipalities of Ranchuelo, Remedios and Caibarién, birthplace of Cuban guitarist and composer Manuel Corona, PL specifies.
There will also be numerous concerts, conferences, theater shows, book launches, a meeting of writers and troubadours for boys and girls, and the presentation of the digital platform Sandunga, points to the source.
The troubadour Yeni Turiño, representative of the Organizing Committee, told the press that the party brings together outstanding figures of Cuban music such as Polito Ibáñez, Nelson Valdés, Ariel Díaz, Rita del Prado, Ariel Barreiros, Axel Milanés and Edelys Loyola.
Also attending are Fernando Cabrera, Fredy Laffita, Jesús Pérez, Pedro A. Zapata and Amaury del Río, among others, who will talk with their colleagues from Villa Clara, PL underlines.
“Longina is a national meeting between troubadours who remained distanced during the worst stage of the COVID-19 pandemic, but now we are here, ready to once again delight our audience,” Turiño said, quoted by the news agency.
