Similarly, he stated that according to statistics from the Ministry of Energy and Mines (Minem), the female workforce in mining is 7.3%, a figure that can grow if diversity and inclusion policies, promotion and training in STEM careers, visibility and recognition of the female workforce are further strengthened in the sector.

WIM Peru President Karina Zevallos said that the key to this sector is the balance between economic growth and commitment to equity and inclusion, where women’s participation is crucial for transformation.

“We want to highlight how investment can drive sustainable growth and contribute to closing the gender gaps that still persist in our sector. This is a call to action for all those who want to see a more equitable, innovative and responsible industry, which reflects the best of who we are as a country and region,” she said.

WIM Peru announced that next October Peru will host the International Congress “Mining to 2050: Promoting a Sustainable Future in Growth, Equity and Competitiveness.”
