The fear of buying extends in Cuba after the death of two people for ingesting nitro salt

Just one day before, the capital had been shaken by the news of the death of a woman and a girl In Guanabacoa after consuming Nitro salt believing that it was table and the fear of buying had the population in suspense.

“Now I have to buy sugar and I’m afraid, but I must do it,” said a neighbor worried about the difficulties of getting the sealed product. Shortage in wineries and high prices in MSMEs They drag to the black market, where the guarantee that what is acquired is safe is void.

“People start selling and do not know what they are selling,” said another. All conversations of the day revolved around the same matter. The comments increased the more one of the tourist areas moved away and entered the depths of the neighborhood, in the area of ​​the Belén arch. The presence of state security agents dressed in civilians and the intensity of rumors increased between the streets of Acosta, Jesus María, Merced, Leonor Pérez and San Isidro, which makes it suspect that the event occurred in that area.

Until now, the victims of this poisoning are Doraima García Moroña, 25, and her daughter of 5, Nashlyn Salet Hernández García. In addition, there are three more hospitalized people, two of them are the mother and uncle of the deceased, who were transferred to the Miguel Enriquez hospital, known as the beneficial, and were “good of health,” according to the authorities. The authorities have asked the population to take precautions in their purchases. The most important thing, advised to look at the color and texture to differentiate it from common salt and, in doubt, heat it: “If you melt in a yellowish tone it is nitro salt,” he warns.

The alarm has jumped to other provinces and has led to health centers from outside Havana to “alert about new cases that could reach the optional centers” in addition to urging “the population to extreme precautions.”
