The Dominican Development Foundation (FDD) held its annual award ceremony for outstanding microenterprise entrepreneurs.
It did so within the framework of its 55th assembly, in which the members of the institution’s Board of Directors were elected for the period 2022-2023. The central speech was given by Amelia Reyes Mora, outgoing president, who presented to the partners the strategies implemented during 2021, a year that was one of reactivation and transformation of companies.
“Our credit programs focused on the commercial reactivation of the benefited borrowers, approaching their immediate needs, new projects, change and adaptation of commercial activity, business resilience and innovative investments,” said Amelia.
The third woman to assume the presidency of the FDD, added that, “during our tenure on the council, we experienced great challenges and satisfactions. In a singular way, we lived the best year of the foundation, 2019 with the best results in five decades”, she explained.
And he added: in contrast, we also suffered the saddest year for the institution, 2020. Micro-businesses were disproportionately affected by the pandemic. Many experts feared the collapse of microfinance institutions. However, the effort of a team that worked tirelessly and the resilience of the clients, showed that it was possible to succeed”.
The group of businessmen that continues to hold responsibility on the foundation’s board for 2022-2023 is made up of María Elmúdesi, president; Ramón Franco Thomen, Vice President; Susanna Reid, secretary; Jean Paul Quiroz, treasurer; María del Carmen Ramos, deputy secretary; María del Pilar Cañas, vice-treasurer; Carlos J. Camilo, Robinson Bou, Lil Esteva, Tomás Martínez Peguero and Eduard Gottschalk, vocals.
