Yamandu Orsicandidate of Wide Front (FA), expressed his confidence in his candidacy by stating: “People are going to elect me to govern, not to debate.” During an interview with Telemundo, Orsi noted his party’s notable growth in recent elections, stressing that The FA is “the party that grew the most” and managed “recover the interior”.
In his post-election analysis, Orsi expressed surprise at reach “16 senators” and is confident that the FA is the “favorite” for the runoff. In addition, he reaffirmed his willingness to dialogue with various groups by pointing out that he does not rule out conversations with Sovereign Identity.
Governance and stability: Orsi highlights the solid majority of the FA in Senators
The presidential candidate for the Frente Amplio expressed that the electoral support received positions them as the party with the capacity to ensure governability. He explained that, if they win the runoff, the FA will have “a very solid majority in the Senate”. The candidate considers that negotiation is essential even with a majority, and he perceives himself in an advantageous position compared to his rival, Álvaro Delgado, whom he referred to by highlighting his lack of majority in the chambers.
Remaining neutral in his statements, Orsi described the policy proposals as “two different models.” “Our policy focuses on two central components”he explained, highlighting the need to generate policies with great economic impact. “Growth with equality translates into development and greater prosperity”he stated.
Vision on plebiscites and social policy
Regarding the plebiscites on night raids and social security, Orsi interpreted the results as a signal from citizens about the need to review the social security system. He stressed that “the result of the social security plebiscite” was satisfactory, evidencing his partisan position contrary to the proposals.
Orsi maintains that it is necessary to carry out a “obligatory analysis” of the entire system to improve its operation. On the immediate political level, he noted that he still has no plans to name future ministers to his cabinet. Although he has not decided on a Minister of the Interior, he mentioned the reinforcement of the team with the incorporation of Roberto Rivero, and valued the advice of Gustavo Leal.
The FA candidate also referred to his upcoming debate with Alvaro Delgadowhich he considers significant in defining the vote of some citizens. Although he stressed his intention to govern, he added that government experience is complementary to the ability to debate.
