The family of the expert in demography and urban problems René Pereira Morató confirmed the death of the academic on Monday.

“To all friends and family we regret to communicate the sensitive death of our beloved husband, father and grandfather René Pereira Morató,” the expert’s family published on social networks.

That same January 5, he addressed his friends and colleagues to thank the public recognition of his work.

Pereira worked as a university professor and in the last part of his career he held the position of director of the Sociological Research Institute (IDIS) of the Universidad Mayor de San Andrés (UMSA).
