The family of the expert in demography and urban problems René Pereira Morató confirmed the death of the academic on Monday.

That same January 5, he addressed his friends and colleagues to thank the public recognition of his work.
“Dear friends: I want to thank God, my dear family, my colleagues and my dear friends, for the beautiful detail of having shared their friendship and affection with me and that, thanks to hard work, my life has been very compensated”, he wrote, in a message that he accompanied with some of the distinctions he received.
Pereira worked as a university professor and in the last part of his career he held the position of director of the Sociological Research Institute (IDIS) of the Universidad Mayor de San Andrés (UMSA).
