The mayor of Maldonado, Enrique Antía, expressed this Friday that this week was presented before the Directorate of Urbanism the technical work team that will carry out the construction of the complex Cipriani Ocean Resort, Club Residences & Casino of Punta del Este (former San Rafael hotel).
During the meeting, the technicians presented the work plan on the property where the iconic San Rafael de Maldonado hotel was located, and They expect that both the hotel and the casino of the Cipriani Group complex will be completed by 2025which commands the Italian businessman Giuseppe Cipriani.
As reported by the Municipality of Maldonado, Work on the platforms for the three towers that are part of the property is also expected to begin in early 2025.
Antía, who spoke at a press conference when presenting the budget adaptation to the Departmental Board this Friday, said that the excavations have begun. The mayor of Maldonado also expressed that the important investment aims to continue attracting people from other parts of the world to this department.

Besides, the pre-sale of the apartments of the Cipriani Ocean Resort, Club Residences & Casino complex, in Punta del Este, opened at the end of March 2023. Priced between US$6,500 and US$7,850 per m2, the apartments will sell for between US$1,085,500 and US$10,456,200.

The Cipriani Group acquired the hotel property for US$ 50 million in 2018, located at Parada 12 of Playa Brava and in 2019 demolished the traditional premises, a decision that earned several criticisms of the Maldonado City Hall and the management company.
