The European Commission will propose to “freeze the assets of the Russian central bank” in the European Union (EU), so that Moscow cannot finance the invasion of Ukraine with themannounced this Saturday the president of the Commission, Ursula von der Leyen.
With this measure, “financial transactions will be frozen and the liquidation of Russian assets will be impossible,” Von der Leyen explained in a video after meeting with leaders of the United States, France, Germany and Italy.
