The Ethics Commission approved the report that proposes suspending the congressman for 120 days without benefits Freddy Diazdenounced by a former employee of his office for the crime of rape.
The report declaring the complaint founded was approved by 16 votes in favour, none against and no abstentions.
The document prepared by the technical team of the working group must be included in the agenda of the plenary so that it can be debated and voted on in this last instance in order to enter into force.

The president of the Ethics Commission, Karol Paredes, had anticipated that a “forceful” report had been prepared to seek the support of the rest of the legislators.
“We are guaranteeing total transparency throughout this process and, furthermore, there is no favoritism for anyone because we believe that this type of case should not happen at any time because we are a benchmark at the level of citizenship”he told RPP hours before.
The congresswoman also stated that Ethics was going to propose that the case of Freddy Díaz be processed in the Subcommittee on Constitutional Accusations.

Freddy Diaz investigated
After the accusation of his then-worker for rape inside a Parliament office was spread, Freddy Díaz was removed from the Alianza Para el Progreso caucus, of which he was a member.
In addition, Congresswoman Flor Pablo (Integrity and Development) filed a multiparty constitutional complaint against Congressman Freddy Díaz.
In parallel, on August 5, the Supreme Court of Preparatory Investigation issued a 9-month ban on Congressman Freddy Díaz from leaving the country.
