A delegation from the Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development visited the Brazilian Elephant Sanctuary to learn about the sanitary and infrastructure conditions of the establishment to which Mara, who lived most of her life in captivity in the Buenos Aires zoo, was transferred.

The objective of the visit, which ended on Thursday, was “to survey in situ the characteristics of the facilities of the establishment located in Mato Grosso and the sanitary conditions in which the animals that are housed there are found,” reported the Ministry of Environment. .
The elephant Marta had been transferred from the Buenos Aires Ecopark in May 2020 to the sanctuary in Brazil.
