The entire province of Huaytará will start classes next Monday

The Huancavelica Regional Directorate of Education (DREH) confirmed the suspension of the start of the 2023 School Year for educational centers in the province of Huaytará.

Classes will not start today as scheduled, but the start will now be until next Monday, March 20.

The DREH indicated that said suspension is due to weather problems that have plagued the province and due to the Red Alert issued by the National Meteorology and Hydrology Service (SENAMHI).

“In order to safeguard the integrity of the students of the Initial, Primary and Secondary level, in the face of the heavy rains and road blockades due to mudslides, it has been arranged that the start of classes in the educational institutions of the Ugel Huaytará are suspended until next Monday, March 20,” said the director of the DREH, Johnny Ventura Villa.

There are 81 initial education centers, 41 Pronoeis, 135 in primary, 33 in secondary, 2 in Alternative Basic Education (EBA), 8 in Special Basic Education (EBE).

The director also added that the authorities of the UGEL Huaytará will be in permanent evaluation of the educational premises in coordination with the Civil Defense of each Local Government.

Senamhi has issued an orange and red alert in the provinces of Huancavelica, Acobamba, Angaraes, Castrovirreyna, Churcampa, Huaytara, Tayacaja.

Until Tuesday, March 14, precipitation (snow, hail, sleet, and rain) of moderate to extreme intensity will occur in these places. These precipitations will be accompanied by electrical discharges and gusts of wind with speeds close to 35 km/h. In addition, the occurrence of hail and snow is expected.
