Iván Duque made this Saturday, August 6, his last speech as President of the Republic. He indicated that he assumed the mandate in the country with commitment, responsibility and love for the country.
“Today is the last time that I address you as President of the Republic, a responsibility that I assumed with the greatest commitment, sense of responsibility and love for our country; whom we honor with each of our actions, ”he pointed out.

The president affirmed that during his government the country and the world had to face one of the greatest crises due to the covid-19 pandemic.
“Colombia and the world had to face an unknown virus that in a matter of days forced us to stop and pause even the simplest activities of our daily lives, we are facing the worst crisis that humanity has had in the last 100 yearsDuke said.
Iván Duque said that Colombians during that time did not lose faith and knew how to be resilient in the face of the difficult moment that the country was facing.
“We Colombians knew how to be resilient by drawing on that infinite inner strength that motivates us to keep going no matter how hard the adversity is; with the government team and the determined will of the local leaders, even in the dark days, we did not lose faith”, he stated.

On the other hand, he thanked Colombians for the support he received while he was governing.
“Thanks to you, to all of you, and to each one of the Colombians to whom I profess my deep and eternal gratitude. For your support, for your generosity, for your constructive criticism. It has been my greatest honor to be able to serve our country. Indescribable is my pride of being born Colombian”, he assured.
