The emotional hug between Ángel Barajas and his coach Jairo Ruiz: “He has been my second father”

The gymnast from Cúcuta Angel Barajas broke the drought and gave Colombia its first medal at the Olympic Games held in Paris, France.

With a score of 14.333the same as the gold medalist, the 17-year-old athlete made a monumental presentation in the Fixed barsince never before had a Colombian won a medal in this demanding discipline that has historically been dominated by Asians and North Americans.

“Today I feel fulfilled and happy. I am young, but I made many sacrifices to get here. Today I missed some details for the gold medal, I have a lot of appreciation for Professor Jairo Ruiz, who has been my second father. I thank God, my mother, my family and Colombia,” said Ángel Barajas with his medal on his chest.

In addition to Olympic glory, Ángel Barajas won an incentive of 191,100,000 pesos from the Ministry of Sport, while his coach received another of between 70 and 73.5 SMLMV.
