Hugo Tomás Ramírez Sosa, an economist and university professor by profession, had a dark side that surfaced on the night of Saturday, April 26, 2002, when he took a knife and killed his student, who was also his lover, but it did not stop there. then he dismembered it and threw its parts through various neighborhoods of Asunción and Lambaré. The man was convicted, he paid his penalty, today he lives in isolation and little is known about him.
On the morning of Sunday, April 27, 2002, someone called the Lambaré Police Station to say that there was a bag thrown on the side of a motel from which blood was coming out. A patrol car went to verify the fact and found the black garbage bag, when they opened it they found the torso of a woman, all the alarms went off. Hours passed and around noon another bag appeared on Parapití and República de Colombia streets in Asunción with a woman’s head. In Manduvirá and Montevideo they found two arms in a similar bag. Finally at 24 Projected and Félix Bogado threw two legs.
Already in the Judicial Morgue, the forensic experts carried out a macabre puzzle and realized that all the members found belonged to the same woman. The event for the time was something never seen and the police began to mobilize to find out, first who was the victim and then go after the perpetrator.
Hugo Ramírez, was the university professor of Marta Orué Hirakawa, 24 years old, but they were also furtive lovers and they were for several months without anyone knowing. However, the teacher had a girlfriend whom he was not going to leave for the young student and that was wearing down the relationship. That is why Marta made the decision to “cut” with Hugo Ramírez.
the macabre plan
When the student told Ramírez that the relationship was over, the man disagreed. So they spent several days arguing about the end of the affair. Until on April 26, 2002, Marta Orué, who lived in the center of Asunción, received a surprise visit from Hugo, who invited her to dinner at his house, already as friends, told her that he respected her decision to put end of the relationship and that by way of farewell he wanted to invite her to a last dinner. The young woman fell for the deception and accompanied the professor to her house located in Lambaré, without knowing that the plan to kill her was underway.
Once at Ramírez’s house, everything was more relaxed, the man was friendly, he offered her dinner, they had something to eat and at one point he told the young woman that he was going to correct some exams and that he wanted her to accompany him, he hoped that the woman falls asleep to kill her. Marta accepted, she sat for a long time watching her teacher review her tests and then she decided to take a bath, to relax she got into the tub.
Ramírez had already planned to kill the young woman, he was just waiting for an opportunity and he found her just when Marta was in the bathtub. Hugo took a knife to cut meat from the kitchen and went into the bathroom, he saw her victim with her back to her almost dozing and without hesitation he attacked her. With fierce killing intent he plunged the sharp blade of the knife three times into her back, then slashed five more into her chest.
The ferocity of the attack meant that Marta had no time to scream and even less to defend herself. The tub was full of blood with the body of her lover, so Ramírez realized that he had to remove the body from her house without attracting attention.
With the same knife he used to kill the student, he began to cut off her limbs, then decapitated her. With the body completely dismembered he went to the kitchen he took several black garbage bags and loaded the parts into them.
He called his nephew who lived near his house and asked to borrow his car. The young man, without knowing what happened, lent the vehicle to the uncle, who loaded the bags with Marta’s body in the trunk and began the horror tour, throwing the bags with the parts of his student’s body at different points. Then she went back to his house, cleaned up the crime scene as best she could, washed the tub, the knife, and then thought of a good alibi in case the police got to him.
Then Hugo Ramírez, with the coldness of any murderer, called Norma Osorio, his girlfriend whom he invited to come and spend the night. The woman came home, they ate something and then went to sleep.
On Sunday afternoon they had already identified Marta Orué as the victim of the brutal crime, they began to inquire among the young woman’s family and friends, to try to have a common thread and find out what happened. The student’s environment put Hugo Ramírez on the scene, some people knew about the furtive love that Marta had with the teacher and they reported this to the investigators.
At night, the police arrived at the house of Hugo Tomás, they asked him several questions about Marta Orué and, following his plan, he said that he had not heard from the young woman for days and that the night of the crime he slept with his girlfriend Norma, who I could corroborate your version.

However, the nose of the police perceived the lie in what Ramírez said, so they left, but returned shortly after with a court order to search the house. Ramírez, convinced that he had erased all evidence of his brutal criminal actions, left the Criminalistics experts to enter. The first evidence they found was the black bags very similar to those containing the remains of the student, but that was not conclusive.
In the bath with luminol (a chemical compound that highlights the blood under violet light) the experts found a large number of small blood particles that were taken and analyzed. Then the car that was parked on the professor’s property was checked and in the trunk they found stains that looked like blood, there were also hair and a ring, which the Orué family would later recognize as Marta’s property. With all these elements, Hugo Ramírez has already been arrested as the main suspect in the crime of Marta Orué.
Then the results of the DNA studies confirmed that all the blood found in the bathroom and the vehicle was from the young student. Hugo Ramírez was charged with the horrendous murder. The judicial process was brief, since all the evidence showed that the teacher was the only perpetrator of the act and on December 10, 2002 he was sentenced to 21 years in prison.
From then on, many questions were raised about the penalty, which was little, that a higher sentence should be applied, but perhaps the strongest blow to Marta’s family and society occurred on April 27, 2016, when Hugo Tomás Ramírez Sosa was released. He spent 14 years in prison, of the 21 that was imposed on him, he served three thirds of his sentence and was released for good behavior.

Professor Ramírez left prison with a serious face without wanting to speak to the media that were waiting for him in the street. He finally agreed to answer a couple of questions. “I already apologized for my mistake, it was 14 years of confinement and everything I did is on my service record. He never had incidents inside the prison… ”, said Ramírez, who then pointed out that he was going to meet with his family, rest and then reintegrate into society.
After that, little or nothing was known about the life of this teacher who, in a night of lack of control, coldly killed and dismembered his lover.
