The electricity supply to Bermejo is restored after an energy crisis

The electricity service was restored this Saturday in the city of Bermejo, on the border with Argentina, and surrounding towns after eight and a half days of energy crisis.

At 2:00 p.m. it was gradually energized with the operation of a 25 megabyte transformer installed in the substation that connects to the National Interconnected System (SIN).

The regional manager of Tarija Electrical Services (SETAR) Bermejo, Edwin Flores, confirmed to EL DEBER that the electricity supply was restored in the 28 neighborhoods and more than a dozen towns.

According to Flores, the energy crisis was resolved with the transfer of a 25 megabyte transformer from the Monte Sud substation (Tarija) and its subsequent installation.

The executive stated that despite everything, a second transformer is needed on standby and with a similar capacity for use at any time.

“The Tarija Government was not careless because it put out to tender its purchase and the company that was awarded did not deliver the equipment due to lack of dollars. Now we hope that the central government will support us and not charge us Bs 2 million for the transfer and assembly,” he said. Flowers.

The director of Industrialization, Dino Beltrán, highlighted that the Ministry of Hydrocarbons and Energy was concerned about the energy problem in Bermejo from the first moment the collapse of the previous transformer was reported.

He added that ENDE technicians optimized times in the assembly of the new electrical equipment to restore the service supply to the people of Bermejo after the vacuum tests.

The president of the Bermejo Civic Committee, Víctor Sánchez, announced that through a letter addressed to the central government they will request the non-collection of Bs 2 million for the transfer in compensation for the 100 years of contribution of oil production to the country.

In addition, the gift of another electrical transformer of similar capacity to the one that is now in operation to avoid an energy crisis.

In this border region, the first Bermejo-2 oil well was discovered on June 25, 1924 by the American company Standard Oil.
