The electoral reform must be built by all, affirms the PAN

Yesterday, the National Action Party (PAN) advanced points of its electoral reform initiative – which it will deliver this Wednesday to the Permanent Commission – and considered that a new model in the matter should not be built from power, but between all political actors, including government.

In addition, the Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI) and the Democratic Revolution Party (PRD) are expected to present their respective proposals.

At a press conference, the president of the blue and whiteMarko Cortés Mendoza, stated that his party is open to building a joint initiative with its allies from Va por México, as well as with the ruling coalition, to perfect democracy.

Among the items that the PAN party proposes are including the primary elections -which it had already anticipated the previous week-, the formal regulation of the coalition governments, suppressing the outdated and misused figure of overrepresentation in Congress and prohibit the turncoat partisan.

Also, classifying as a crime the measure that prohibits government advertising during electoral times, and in this case the PAN has expressly referred to regulating presidential conferences. Although the Constitution does not allow such propaganda, no penalty is indicatedsaid the coordinator of the deputies, Jorge Romero.

The legislator added that the initiative considers including as grounds for annulment of an election the slightest indication or suspicion the involvement of organized crime.

It even provides for the regulation of electronic voting, from which a printed witness is obtained after being issued; the count would be immediate and the record would be the product of an algorithm.

Another point is to regulate the figure of decline of a candidate in favor of another, and that the votes of the first be counted for the second, in addition to defining as a requirement that the decision be endorsed by the governing bodies of the applicant party.
