The electoral ban for the Popular Party begins

The Electoral Tribunal reminds the members of the Popular Party (PP) that they have until 11:59 p.m. this Thursday, July 13 to do political proselytism, since the period begins at 12:01 a.m. on Friday the 14th. of reflection and, therefore, the electoral ban, due to the celebration of the Extraordinary National Congress on Saturday, July 15 and Sunday, July 16, 2023 to choose their candidates for deputies to the Central American Parliament (Parlacen) and proclaim their presidential candidate, for the 2024 general election.

The dissemination of electoral propaganda, paid or donated, in favor of or against citizens or parties, as well as caravans and concentrations, is prohibited. They must refrain from handing out promotional items, sponsoring events in which the party’s name is used, and advertising in conventional and digital media.

Article 265 of the Electoral Code states that this prohibition includes billboards, so they must be removed at the expiration of the respective campaign period, by the party, the responsible pre-candidate or the company hired for advertising.

In case of non-compliance, the respective Regional Directorate of Electoral Organization (DROE) will proceed with its removal, confiscation and corresponding sanctions.

Resolution 124 of the National Directorate of Electoral Organization of April 13, 2023 established the calendar and regulations for the holding of this National Congress.
