The Governor of Central Bank of the Dominican Republic (BCRD), Hector Valdez Albizuleft the eighth open Economic and Financial Week organized by the institution.
“This effort is motivated by our interest and that of 35 participating public and private institutions to promote interest in knowledge of economic and financial issues, and at the same time, contribute to their understanding by Dominican children, youth and adults” he said in his inaugural speech.
Valdez Albizu extended an invitation to follow up on the activity that will last for five days, with 60 activities, in which you can enjoy free talks, conferences and workshops from the participating institutions, through the Zoom platform and the institutional YouTube channel.
The governor especially highlighted two of the activities that the Central Bank will offer: one is the conference “Financial inclusion in Latin America: challenges and opportunities,” which will be given by Colombian economist Diana Mejía, senior specialist in productive and financial development at the Development Bank of Latin America (CAF); and the other is the award ceremony for the “Economists of the Future” academic competition, the contest organized by the BCRD that gives Dominican high school seniors the opportunity to show their skills in dealing with economic and financial issues.
The Economic and Financial Week It is the event with the greatest scope of the “Central Classroom for economic and financial education” program, belonging to the set of social responsibility activities of the Central Bank of the Dominican Republic. It is integrated in the economic and financial week of global celebration “Global Money Week”, coordinated by the foundation Child and Youth Finance International.
The BCRD informed that all the activities will be transmitted free of charge by Zoom and YouTube, and will take place from today until Friday the 25th, from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm The program and all the information can be consulted at the subportal bancentral.gov.do/sefbcrd and through social networks.
For this special event there will be the participation of 35 entities, which are: the associations of Savings and Credit Banks and Credit Corporations (Abancord), Multiple Banks of the Dominican Republic (ABA), Cibao de Ahorros y Préstamos, La National Savings and Loans, La Vega Real and Popular Savings and Loans.
Likewise, the Dominican League of Savings and Loan Associations; banks Ademi, Adopem, Development of Latin America (CAF), Banesco, Banfondesa, BHDLeón, Banreservas, Caribe, Multiple Active Dominican, Popular, Promerica, Santa Cruz and Scotiabank. In addition, the Ministries of Economy, Planning and Development; Tax authorities; and Industry, Commerce and MSMEs.
Similarly, the Superintendencies of Banks, the Stock Market and Pensions; Stock Exchange of the Dominican Republic, Capgefi, General Directorate of Government Accounting, Office of Services and User Protection (ProUsuario), ProConsumidor, ProDominicana, National Treasury, VISA and the host Central Bank of the Dominican Republic.
