The earthquake registered in Florida on Sunday had a local magnitude 3.9, as reported on Twitter by the researcher at the Institute of Geological Sciences of the Faculty of Sciences, Leda Sánchez. The geologist informed The Observer that he tremor occurred at 5:70 p.m. and seven minutes in the afternoon, while the Florida commune does not report any type of damage.
The event took place near the axis of Route 58 between the towns of Palermo, Timote and near Montecoral, where an earthquake was also registered on May 8 of last year. On that occasion the magnitude was 4.6 on the Richter seismological scale.

Exact location of the tremor
“Think that one of 3 generated fissures, cracks, iron cracks in Las Piedras. One of 4 has ten times more energy”, illustrated the geologist Sánchez. The difference in this case was that the tremor “was in the middle of the field” so there are no reports of material damage or injuries.
The local outlet CW33 Radio Florida had reported on Sunday of testimonies from residents of Parada Urioste, Talita, San Gerónimo, Picada Larga and Palermo who reported an earthquake and “a strange noise”. The mayor of Florida, Guillermo López, will meet at 11:30 a.m. with experts from the Faculty of Sciences, Meteorology and the police of that department to delve into the episode.
The call to the Departmental Emergency Coordination Center (Cecoed) is “serious and urgent in order to have a comprehensive look at the event,” said the chief, who added that “There is no injury or damage to regret, but everything is very premature”.
The researcher from the Institute of Geological Sciences of the Faculty of Sciences said that “we have to put more equipment in the area”, while “it is inhumane” the work of processing the information. “It is time for the State to take responsibility and give us a hand, a person cannot be working alone and processing twenty station data, we do not even have the resources to buy a software extension,” she claimed.
