Gabriel Campo related his experience at Benito Juárez airport.
News Colombia.
Gabriel Campo, a young Colombian, denounced having been a victim of abuse and discrimination by migratory officials when he arrived at Benito Juárez International Airport, in Mexico City.
His testimony, shared through Tiktok, has generated a wave of reactions in social networks and reopens the debate about the treatment that Colombians receive in some airports of the Aztec country.
Campo recounts that the trip to Mexico was a long planned dream. For five months he saved to cost aerial tickets that exceeded one million eight hundred thousand Colombian pesos and a hotel stay that cost him about an additional million.
The enthusiasm of the trip, however, crossed the migration doors on Mexican soil.
He started in Cartagena, passed through Bogotá, and had as a final destination Mexico City
The journey advanced without setbacks until it reached migration. Although in Colombia he had no difficulty embarking, the young man confessed that he was traveling with true fear: “I had always heard that in Mexico Colombians treated us badly, mainly in Cancun”He said.
Already in Mexican soil, the initial enthusiasm gave way to disappointment. “I fell in love when I saw the city from the plane”He said. But when he entered the airport, he ran into a contradictory message:“I saw the sign of ‘Welcome to Mexico City’, but I felt it as a hoax”

Campo denounced that, when he reached migration, he noticed that rows were formed exclusively for Colombian citizens, while Argentines and Uruguayans went through a different process, apparently less rigorous.
He assures that an official asked him basic questions and, despite answering clearly, was sent to a second review.
“She had a rare attitude”, Said the young man. In this second stage, he said he was taken to a review room with several Colombians, including entire families, where he was forced to deliver his cell phone and complete forms with personal information.
According to his testimony, an agent would have said directly: “No one who came on Avianca flights will enter”This increased its frustration and feeling of vulnerability.«I felt helpless. Everything he had saved, the illusion of the trip, seemed to collapse“He said.
Campo said that, in the midst of the procedure, an official allowed him to review his mobile phone to confirm some data, at which time he could verify his family’s concern. “They asked me if I wanted to happen to the United States, that seemed what they were most interested”He added.

Finally, after several hours, the authorities allowed him to enter the country. But the experience left a mark of indignation. “We in Colombia received everyone and we are the ones who deal best, and the ones that treat us worse”He said in his video.
Gabriel Campo’s complaint adds to other similar ones that have circulated in recent months, fanning a debate about the treatment that Colombian travelers receive in some airports in Mexico, especially in Mexico City and Cancun.
