Orlando, FL. The Dominican Republic, through the Orlando Tourism Promotion Office (OPT), resumes its participation in Surf Expo, the main trade fair held in the United States on water sports and beach lifestyle.
Retail and professional exhibitors related to this industry participate in it. This Surf Expo 2023 edition is taking place from January 4 to 6, 2023, at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida.
The Dominican delegation is represented by the Ministry of Tourism with its project “Surf and Wind City Cabarete”, and the events Word Surf League, Masters Surf Meeting, Master of the Ocean and Caribbean Surf Connection, all scheduled for the first quarter of 2023.
With its participation in Surf Expo, the Ministry of Tourism seeks to attract the largest volume of tourists who are fond of water sports, professional competitors and investors who come together at this fair.
Cabarete, located in the province of Puerto Plata, is the capital of the Caribbean for the sports of “Waves and Wind”, a scenario of optimal conditions for the practice of surfing, kite surfing and wind surfing, as well as a relaxed, healthy lifestyle and sporty.
In general, Puerto Plata has some of the best beaches in the country. It has them in Sosúa, Playa Dorada, Maimón, Cafemba, Playa Grande (from Luperón), Cabarete and Long Beach, among others.
Various types of sports are practiced on some of these beaches, such as jet ski racing, surfing, windsurfing, kite or sailing. Other beaches are along the boardwalk, or in Boca Nueva, Playa de Copello, Bergantín or La Mariposa. Puerto Plata combines hotels, sun, beach, ecology and natural reserves, keys, extreme and water sports, history and other attractions.
