The price of the dollar in Colombia continues to fall and strengthens below $4,300, a trend that has continued since the inauguration of Donald Trump as US president last Monday.

The US currency continues to plummet and this Thursday closed at an average price of $4,245, which represents a drop of 33 pesos compared to the TRM of $4,278.
Investors are cautious due to the uncertainty of how Donald Trump’s new term will affect the stock market.

Since Trump’s inauguration, The US currency has fallen in several countries.
Analysts agree that the first steps of the new president of the United States favored, for now, a global weakening of the dollar.
Trump promised aggressive tariff and trade measures against other countries during the campaign, but so far he has not implemented any. This waiting period, without immediate decisions, brought relief to the markets and allowed currency flows from investors who took advantage of it to protect themselves from the dollar.

“The perception that its more protectionist policy (…) can occur, but with limitations, ends up leading to a loss of relative strength (although it may be temporary) of the US currency”Felipe Salto, chief economist at Warren Inversiones, told AFP.
