The interbank dollar in Uruguay fell 1.02% (40 hundredths) in the average of transactions on Tuesday and touched its lowest nominal level of the year.
The wholesale average stood at $39.07, while the last transaction was agreed at $39.20 (-0.38%), according to data from Bevsa. The volume operated on this day was US$ 40.4 million and was a maximum for June operations. So far this year, the depreciation of the dollar reaches 12.7%.
On the public board of the BROU, the dollar lost 15 hundredths at the close of the day. The sale was offered at $38, while the purchase was listed at $40.40.
In the Survey of Economic Expectations of the BCU for June, agents now see a dollar at $42 for the end of the yearthis is considerably less than the $43.21 that had been projected in the May survey.
The region
For its part, in the Brazilian exchange market the dollar advanced 0.6% against the real on Tuesday and was trading at 5.26% units per greenback. In the last month, the US currency accumulated an appreciation of 11% against the real.
In Argentina, the Dolar blue jumped again this Tuesday and renewed its all-time high. With a rebound of 7 Argentine pesos, the informal price continued with its upward trend in an accelerated way, while the financial dollars moderated their advances during the second half of the day. Parallel prices have been advancing strongly in the last rounds, driven by tensions in the local market after yesterday the Central Bank announced another tightening of the exchange rate clamp for importers with the aim of losing fewer reserves.
With this new jump, The blue dollar advanced to 236 Argentine pesos for purchase and 239 for sale, with which it reached a new nominal record. Thus, it accumulates an advance of 33 pesos since the beginning of the current month and widens the gap to more than 91% with respect to the official wholesaler and 83% in relation to the retailer.
