The interbank dollar fell 0.5% this Wednesday, to $42.32 in the average of transactions, his lowest price since last February 23 according to data from the Electronic Stock Exchange of Uruguay (Bevsa).
The amount traded this Tuesday in the wholesale market was US$19.1 million and there was no direct intervention by the BCU.
The dollar accumulates a drop of 0.5% in the month, it was at the same level that ended February, and now it is 5.3% cheaper than it closed last year against the Uruguayan peso. On the BROU public board, the dollar was offered this Tuesday at $41.10 for purchase and $43.50 for sale.
Right now the greenback is $2.5 lower than its highest point so far this year, on January 5, when it traded at $44.73.
In Brazil, for its part, the US currency also weakened 0.6% this Tuesday and closed at 4.95 reais per dollar, “its lowest level since June 24, 2021”, according to Economic Value. In Argentina, the blue dollar fell to 198 Argentine pesos for purchase and 201 pesos for sale, one unit less than yesterday, according to El Cronista.
